Cabinets of Curiosities surged in the Renaissance featuring weird stuff.

They were entire rooms full of collections that could include almost anything, like scientific specimens, relics of the odd, rare antiquities, and other strange items. 

These collections showed off their curators' interests much like a really ancient version of Pinterest although with a lot more skeletons and preserved bugs. These socks offer just a tiny window into this old tradition, with a variety of oddities that would fit into any such collection.
