A warm greeting to all you nerds out there! I’m Nick, and I’m here to talk to you about Unearth. This is a game we backed on Kickstarter a while ago, and I don’t think it’s gotten all the love it deserves. Unearth is the story of your small tribe, barely surviving in an era long past ours, attempting to lay claim to ruins and precious stones in order to rebuild the monuments of old. Now, this may sound all dark and gloomy, but just look at these little guys! They’re so cute!
So here’s the really interesting part of the game: each member of your tribe is represented by a different die, and depending on what values each die can roll, the members of your tribe have different abilities. For example, one is very good at claiming ruins, while another can easily find stones, and another is able to do a little bit of everything.
In addition to the strategic dice rolling, there is a placement aspect of the game. Stones you collect are placed in rings, and when a ring is complete, you get to build a monument, some of which have possibly game-changing effects.
On top of the awesome gameplay, the art is amazing! I would highly recommend this game to anyone who loves good strategy, good art, and a good time. This has been your semi-regular Nerd Spotlight with Nick, and I hope you read again soon!
